Meditation

What is meditation?

Meditation is a practice of training attention and awareness. You do not need to stop thinking or reach a special state of mind.

Practice can be very simple: noticing the breath, the body, sounds, thoughts or emotions and learning to stay with our experience without immediately trying to change it.

Try a 5-minute meditation

A simple beginner practice you can try straight away in a quiet place.

  1. Sit comfortably and let the shoulders soften.
  2. Notice three calm in-breaths and out-breaths.
  3. When thoughts move elsewhere, gently return to breathing.
  4. At the end, notice body, sounds and the space around you.
